2nd Grade Word Problems - Math Mystery - Case of the Mixed-Up March Madness

This math mystery is a fun way for 2nd graders to solve word problems in a unique way. Kids start reading at the beginning of the book, solve the problems, and go where the book tells them to go! A wrong answer will send them to a 'stopper' that will tell them to go back to where they were working, and TRY AGAIN!

It's time for March Madness and St. Patrick's Day, so I made this mystery a moosh of both...but it is a basic mystery that can be read at any time!

This mystery includes these skills:

*subtraction with basic regrouping

*Time to the nearest 5 minutes

*finding area with squares

*fractions

*subtraction facts

*Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes do not have to have the

same shape.

*graphing and comparing data

*elapsed time

*adding money

*estimating whether you have enough money

There are a total of 10 word problems included in this story. Some of them are multi-step problems as well.
